Where they describe a car and you’re all: “I KNOW WHAT THAT CAR LOOKS LIKE!!!” and then you feel like Sherlock Holmes?

I got an amber alert last night for a silver Chevy Lumina. I wish I didn’t know what that looked like...

But what if it’s the other Chevy Lumina?? D:

No, seriously. They need to have someone on their team who knows their stuff and can ask, “Okay, and is it a sedan or a minivan?” when someone reports a missing person in a Lumina. And other stuff like that. I often get alerts for a “blue Saturn” or whatever, and fine, the caller might not have known the model. That’s reasonable. But they should have at least been able to determine whether it was a sedan, SUV, coupe, wagon, or Minivan, and whether it was newer or older. It’s kind of a big deal when there’s a kid out there and the police don’t try as hard as they could to find him.

There was one issued in Michigan a few months ago for a Ford F-250. The little girl was found within a few hours. But people continued to talk about the alert, having been startled by it at 5 in the morning (this was a Saturday). Some people got really pissy about it and filed complaints.

I have a family member in law enforcement and I’m told this guy they are looking for is a real danger to that woman, the child and everyone else.

I blame Chevrolet for that one. It was absolutely ridiculous for Chevy to give those two completely different vehicles the same name. Especially when you consider that they were available during the same time. For a little while, you had to go out of your way to specify “Lumina APV” when talking about the minivan, but after a few years Chevy dropped the “APV” designation, because it obviously wasn’t confusing enough.

I got one for a white Avenger, and then immediately saw a white Avenger (not the one they were looking for) still confused as to who actually bought avengers though.

I got that amber alert while listening to my radio cut to said amber alert while my phone started screeching due to an amber alert.

There was also a silver alert last week as well... not sure how that panned out.
